“Art washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life.”

Pablo Picaso

Cutting, grinding and polishing in my cold shop is the process that happens after it comes out of the kiln. This is called “cold working”.

Small broken glass is called “Frit”. Here I am applying Frit of various sizes before the first firing. It will be fired to 1500 degrees and take about 22 hours in the kiln. Then comes another firing. Depending on the piece there could be several firings.

Tipping the lid on a kiln. At 1500 degrees the glass is molten liquid. It has been in the kiln now for about 4 hours and will take another 18 hours to go through the annealing process and cool.
